Investing in the Church

An investor with the BICF since 1976, Rev. Earl Herr, remains “very positive” about his experience. While attending Palmyra BIC he learned of the opportunity, described as a “good way to invest money for your sake and for the work of the church,” and desired to participate.

He, along with each of his five children, has since remained an active participant, “All of our children have had various times when they’ve invested in the Brethren in Christ Foundation.”

Outside of his own family Earl encourages his congregation members at Martinsburg BIC to invest in the fund through displaying a prospectus and documents to obtain investment certificates as well as periodically drawing attention to the Foundation through bulletin announcements and church newsletters.

“Sometime I’d like to be able to know how many individuals have taken my advice.”

Excited about the growth of the BIC Church, Earl hopes to see “individuals inside the Church . . . be more Christ-like” and to see the Church become “more of an instrument of God to impact the world for him . . . and impact the whole life of every person who is a part of the BIC Church.”

Believing that “God has called us to be good stewards of whatever is put in our care, whether it’s time, talent or treasure,” Earl has found the loan fund an “instrument of his faith” in caring for his finances.
